How to use the Optimized Balancerail Washers
Every action will improve using the OBW’s because of the more defined pivoting point of the key.
The OBW comes in the place of the “normal” felt balancerail washer.
To replace the felt balancerail washers by OBW’s there is a very simple tool, an OBW slider (#434522) with the help of which you can find the average pivoting point of the key.
A more interesting application of the OBS’s is the change of the overall Ratio by using a different type of OBW.
The same protocol as described in the manual is used, but now you look for a higher (heavier touch) or lower (lighter touch) and Balance Weight.
Amount usually needed:
If you have to use the same size on the complete piano:
- 5 Sets = 90 pcs
If you need a different size on natural and sharps, which is more common:
- 3 Sets = 54 pcs, for natural
- 2 Sets = 36 pcs, for sharps
We offer two versions of the OBWs:
- Injection molding: inexpensive and very precise shaping of the scale line
- TPE special: softer and therefore also more noise-absorbing, which is why they are recommended for loose (worn out) key bottoms.
